AlphaZero demonstrated that a single system could reach superhuman performance across multiple game domains simultaneously. That's generality of a kind. Lesson 4 asked where "generality" ends. Lesson 5 asks what lies beyond it: the specific things that current AI systems — including the most capable LLMs — genuinely can't do reliably, and what those failures tell us about the distance to AGI.
This isn't a list of criticisms. It's a diagnostic. Understanding what's missing is the only honest way to assess how far away the thing we're looking for might be.
