Students learn to communicate, strategize, and cooperate in modified team sports, developing sportsmanship, fair play, and the ability to support teammates of all skill levels.
Health, Fitness, and Goal Setting
Flexibility and Stretching Routines
Students learn static and dynamic stretching techniques for major muscle groups, understand the relationship between flexibility and injury prevention, and develop peer leadership skills by leading class warm-up routines.
Fitness Components and Assessment
Students learn the five health-related fitness components, participate in age-appropriate fitness assessments, and begin keeping a personal fitness journal to track progress and reflect on their physical health.
Goal Setting and Self-Assessment
Students learn to set SMART fitness and physical activity goals, develop personal activity plans, track progress, and build self-management and intrinsic motivation skills for lifelong physical health.
Nutrition and Athletic Performance
Students learn about macronutrients, the importance of pre-activity meals, hydration strategies, and energy balance, understanding how food choices directly affect physical performance and overall health.
